Aru Bhartiya was born in Rajasthan, India. She has a bachelor’s in civil engineering and a master’s in Economics.

Growing up in the Hindu faith Aru was told that periods are impure. People were ashamed and never talked about periods. When she learned from her friend of another faith about a positive attitude towards menstruation, she was curious to learn how other religions viewed periods. Click here to read the full article.

Aru shares with Mistake Club about her experience of having her first period, not knowing what it was. She also talks about the discoveries that surprised her during her research.

Aru volunteered as a teacher at Lha Charitable Trust, Dharamshala (India). She is interested in Women’s Studies and Refugee studies.
